Password Questions

What’s the difference between my password and my encryption passphrase?

Your password: is used to secure and manage your Recollectr account. This CAN be reset if forgotten.

Your encryption passphrase: if you set one, is used to generate the key used to encrypt and decrypt your notes and files. This CANNOT be reset if forgotten.

How do I reset my password?

If you know your current password, you can sign into your account change your password here.

What if I lose my password?

If you lose your password, you can reset it with a password reset email as long as you can access your email.

What if I no longer have access to my account recovery email?

Because your password is only used to manage your account, if you still have access to your notes you can export your notes and create a new account.

If you cannot access your notes, you can contact us. Because of the sensitivity of password resets, we will only be able to manually reset your password if we can verify your identity. In some cases this may not be possible. If we cannot verify your identity we will not be able to reset your password.

Verifying your identity is necessarily a lengthy process that will take a minimum of several days.
